This Generations Leading Marketing Method

Think about it. Marketing is about engaging consumers' right? Until recently, email marketing has been the undisputed king of online marketing. How could YOU possibly better engage your target market than email marketing? How about reaching them in a way that you KNOW they will see your offer?

  • The average person checks their mobile device approximately 150 times a day.
  • 50% of people take their mobile devices with them to the bathroom.
  • On average, people check their SMS messages within 5 seconds of being received (the average time for email is 2 days)
  • 98% of people read the SMS messages that they receive (the average for emails is just above 20%)

It should be no surprise that SMS for business purposes is quickly gaining popularity. The statistics don't lie. Why send your potential consumers and email when you know that their mobile device is treated like an extra appendage?

Mobile Messaging For Business

We've shown you the statistics. Mobile marketing is expected to generate over £190.37 billion in revenue for businesses by 2016. Undoubtedly, those that have enough insight to use such a thriving marketing method will see the results. Unfortunately for some, this is not enough proof to persuade them that mobile marketing is the real deal. These statistics also don't show whether mobile messaging for business is a viable marketing method for smaller companies. Perhaps some social proof will do.

This past July, a small pizza parlour by the name of Papa Murphy's located in Reno Nevada decided to launch their first SMS campaign.

"We were always a little bit skeptical about anything new…" said Peter McLeod, owner of Papa Murphy's. "We did have a stamp card program that we used, and this was something along the same lines… We've had some great results."

McLeod decided to send a text message, or "broadcast," to their customer database on July 24, 2013. This offer was sent to their database of 878 members, which they compiled in the past four months. The message read something as simple as this, "Papa Murphy's Meal Deal Large DELITE 1 topping only Pizza + 1 Side item & 2 Litre Soda $10! Valid 7/24 & 7/25 only. Moana Lane only. Limit 3".

According to McLeod, this single message boosted business by 174%. McLeod concluded by saying, "If you're looking to target the market and you want to target the people that are in your area, there's no better way I can think of to do it. You can send a direct text to those people who come into your store anyway."

Needless to say, you do not need to be a fortune 500 company in order to profit from the use of mobile messaging for business. If a small "mom and pop" pizza parlour like Papa Murphy's can almost double their business from a single SMS message, just imagine what you can do with the help of Papersky?
