How to use mobile marketing
According to research from Econsultancy, a leading source of independent advice and insight on digital marketing and ecommerce, “Apps, email and search are among top mobile priorities for businesses” We’ve taken a closer look at their report to see how to use mobile marketing.
The report
Based on survey of more than 500 companies and agencies, carried out in July and August 2013. It showed that “when asked which mobile channels they plan on using during the next 12 months just over half (55%) of marketers said apps, followed by mobile advertising (51%), optimised emails (50%) and tablet-specific sites (50%).
The report also confirmed the rise in mobile marketing, “The results show that there is appetite among client-side businesses to get more involved with mobile, as two-thirds (67%) say mobile will become a fundamental part of their marketing and commerce strategy during the next 12 months” as more and more businesses learn to how to use mobile marketing.
The report did show however that only 39% of organisations actually have a mobile strategy in place but did go on to say “Main Street tends to be cautious about changing the way it markets, but local business owners are now embracing mobile marketing at a remarkable rate, including SMS (text messaging), mobile banners, email, paid search, mobile video, proximity campaigns, sponsorships, coupons, loyalty programs and deals.”
The rise in mobile marketing also presents a further challenge for marketers, how to grow their mobile marketing and their social media at the same time. The reason the two are so inextricably linked is because social media marketing is a real-time experience and something consumers do via mobile devices.
